We missed our recliner a lot but we also loved having two couches, too. We decided we wanted two couches AND a recliner and were willing to give up some floor space. The recliner we had in the house comes apart into two pieces, so it was fairly easy to get through the doorway. We are still able to open the drawers on the extend-an-island and can easily walk behind the recliner to sit in the dinette chair.
When we prepare to "move", we move one dinette chair back to the bedroom and put the recliner in its place under the dinette table. When the slides are "in" we still have room to walk down the aisle to the kitchen or bathroom.
When this comfy recliner wears out, we'll probably get one a little smaller and a different color. But, in the meantime, this works for us!
